LARRA KEEL

As a lifelong dabbler in arty stuff, I was thrilled to discover glass fusing in 2007. After all, it's a medium that allows me to play with color and light along with razor-sharp glass shards and dangerous power tools. Fusing gives me the ability to create a delicate piece of jewelry or a substantial chunk of glassy loveliness. What's not to like?

I approach my projects from different points--sometimes a detailed design, but more often a specific color palette, a vague inspiration ( old greeting cards! fog! Klimt!), or just the artistic desperation of needing to make something now.  I'm constantly learning from the creative bunch at La Hoya and from the glass itself, both of which can have a bit of an attitude. I don't know what the future holds for me as an artist, but I'm pretty sure it will include experimentation, self-expression, camaraderie, and lots of band-aids.
